Can I still calibrate my instrument without the wavelength calibrator option with the 86140 OSA?
Can I still calibrate my instrument without the wavelength calibrator option with the 86140 OSA?
The internal wavelength calibrator (option 006) provides an easy and accurate method to calibrate the instrument. However, you do not need the internal wavelength calibrator to calibrate your instrument. The instrument can be calibrated using your own laser source. You must carefully establish the accuracy of the wavelength of the laser and then transfer that accuracy into the OSA. You enter the actual wavelength of the laser. The OSA then measures the laser wavelength, calculates and applies an internal correction factor. Refer to the Wavelength Calibration for the 8614XB Series Optical Spectrum Analysers under Application Notes for more information on Wavelength Calibration.
