Can an AC output work with a DC load?

Given the characteristics of the SCRs used in the AC output SSR's, the straightforward answer is NO. However, the technical answer is that if an AC output SSR is used on a DC circuit, it will stay off until the input signal is applied, then the output will switch the DC load on. However, since SCRs stay on once gated, removing the input signal will NOT turn the DC load off. The SSR can only be turned off by removing the DC source, or if the DC current going through the output of the AC SSR eventually falls to zero current (below the holding current of the power SCR).
